3 - 5 pm

it's that time of the month again, art lovers!

join us on SATURDAY JUNE 20 from 3 to 5 pm as we host our ultra talented friend and artist, LUKE BUCHANAN, with a gallery showcase!

Luke's work is based on the spiritual residue and shared memories left behind by the constructed symbols of our presence here on earth, such as telephone poles, railroad tracks, stairways and buildings that have been shared across multiple generations.

" I am interested in what is remembered and forgotten, where these symbols occupy the spaces we create and the spaces created unintentionally, in between. Thousands of people walk by and through these spaces, each an individual with their own experience. In the same room where an old couple repeats words of love, once a young man passed away. These shared spaces and experiences are the focus of my work. "

Luke Miller Buchanan began painting while attending the NCSU College of Design's School of Architecture. After graduating in 2002 he was awarded the Artspace Regional Emerging Artist residency, and committed to painting full time. He currently splits his time between teaching painting and drawing at Peace College and working in his studio. Buchanan has shown his work throughout the southeast and was featured in New American Paintings issue #88 in 2009.
